ABSTRACT OF PRINCIPLES

  • Article 1: We believe in only one true and living God, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost (Deuteronomy 6:4; Mark 12:29-30; I John 5:7).
  • Article 2: We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the World of God and only rule of faith and practice (II Timothy 3:16; Romans 15:4 and 3:2; II Peter 1:20-21).
  • Article 3: We believe in the Doctrine of election and that God chose His people in Christ before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1: 46; II Thessalonians 2:13-15; Titus 1:2; II Timothy 1:9).
  • Article 4: We believe in the doctrine of original sin (Genesis 3:6; Romans 3:12, 3:23, and 5:12; Psalms 51:5).
  • Article 5: We believe in man’s impotency to recover himself from the fallen state he is in my nature of his own free will and ability (Ephesian 2:89; Hebrews 9:22; 1 Peter 2:24).
  • Article 6: We believe that sinners are justified in the sight of God only by the imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ (Romans 3:22-25 and 5:89; Titus 3:5).
  • Article 7: We believe that God’s elect shall be CALLED, CONVERTED, REGENERATED, and SANCTIFIED by the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:29, 30; Malachi 3:17; II Thessalonians 2:13-15; I Peter 1:2; II Timothy 1:9).
  • Article 8: We believe that the saints shall be preserved in grace and never fall finally away (St. John 10:27-29; Romans 8:38-39, and II Timothy 1:9; I Peter 1:4-5).
  • Article 9: We believe in BAPTISM, the LORD’S SUPPER, and the WASHING OF THE SAINTS’ FEET are ordinances of Jesus Christ and that true believers are the subject, and the only true mode of baptism is by IMMERSION (Baptism: Matthew 3:13-17, and 28:19,20; Acts 8:36-38. Lord’s Supper: Matthew 26:26-30; Mark 14:22-25; Luke 22:17; I Corinthians 11:23-26. Washing of the Saints’ Feet: St. John 13:1-17; Ephesians 4:46).
  • Article 10: We believe in the resurrection of the dead and the eternal judgement and the punishment of the wicked and the joys of the righteous will be eternal (I Thessalonians 14:16; Jude 1:14-15; Revelations 20:15; Matthew 25:34, 41 and 46; II Corinthians 5:10).
  • Article 11: We believe that no minister has a right to administration of the ordinances only such as are regularly baptized, called, and come under the imposition of hands of the Presbytery (Acts 12:23; Titus 1:5).
  • Article 12: We believe that none but regularly baptized member have a right to commune at the Lord’s Table (I Corinthians 11:24; Exodus 12:43).

CONSTITUTION

We, the Primitive Baptist Church of Christ composed of Churches in North Alabama, and Tennessee and having been regularly baptized upon profession of our faith in Christ, are convinced of the necessity of a combination of churches in order to perpetuate union among churches and to preserve and maintain correspondence within the union, for fellowship, worship and teaching for the glory of the Kingdom of God, do ordain and establish this Constitution.
